Sports Specific Training & Nutritional Advice

In recent years the use of sport specific conditioning has been brought to the fore. The movement patterns in hockey completely differ from those in triathlon or rugby. For that reason it is necessary for those athletes to use different movements and also for different durations and relative intensities.

At Functionally Aware Fitness we believe that the true success of a programme is determined by the quality of what’s fuelling it. At FA Fitness all clients receive a copy of the client handbook which has detailed information regarding aspects of nutrition. This forms the basis of a successful programme and an increased awareness of the need to eat at the right times and from the right sources.

Ladies Hockey Team Reap the Rewards of Sport Specific Training

During the summer I worked with Launceston Ladies Hockey Club and I produced a progressive Pre-Season Fitness Programme for them. To make the programme specific to their needs, I looked at the specific demands of the sport and the movement patterns they use during a game. It has paid off.
